The story usually goes that they played a lot of games as a kid and even though they dreamed of building these games as a developer usually end up working for Facebook or Google creating Web Apps. Not Dave Geddes. Dave (@geddski) is making games that teach people how to code and he's not giving them away for free. He's actually selling them for hundreds of dollars in fact.
